Saturday April 10 • Arrive in Israel

  • Transport to Hotel in Tel Aviv
  • Group orientation and dinner

Sunday April 11 • Yom Hasho’ah

  • drive north to Nahariya
  • Visit Rosh HaNikra
  • Equipment "check out" ride

Day 1 Monday April 12 • Bike from Nahariya to Safed

  • Commemorate Yom HaShoah along the route
  • Wine tasting at the Dalton Winery
  • Stop in Arab Christian village of Jish

Day 2 Tuesday April 13 • Bike from Safed to Beit She'an

  • Explore the eastern shore of the Kineret
  • Stop in Kibbutz Dganya, the first Kibbutz in Israel and have a chocolate factory tour
  • Finish the day with a swim in the natural springs at Beit She’an

Day 3 Wednesday April 14 • Bike from Beit She'an to Zihron Ya'akov

  • Lunch in the Druze village of Isfiya

Day 4 Thursday April 15 • Bike from Zihron Ya'akov to Central Israel

  • TBD

Day 5 Friday April 16 • Bike from Central Israel to Jerusalem

  • Stop in Latrun to learn about the battle for the roads to Jerusalem
  • Picnic lunch along the way
  • Spend time with SDJA and Sha'ar HaNegev seniors with Kabbalat Shabbat at the Kotel and Shabbat dinner.

Day 6 Saturday April 17 • Rest day in Jerusalem

  • Opportunity to go to the Jerusalem synagogue of choice
  • Walking tour and free day in Jerusalem

Day 7 Sunday April 18 • Bike from Jerusalem to Sha’ar HaNegev

  • Stop at Bet Burvin and tour an amazing cave system and an ancient gladiatorial ampetheater

Day 8 Monday April 19 • Yom Ha’atzmaut

  • Commemorate Yom Ha'Zikaron with our friends in Sha'ar HaNegev

Day 9 Tuesday April 20 • Celebration Day

  • Victory Lap of Sha'ar HaNegev
  • Celebrate Ha’atzmaut
  • transfer to Ben Gurion Airport

Program Highlights

  • Stop at significant sites along the way with an experienced educator/guide
  • Watch and participate with the entire country as they observe Yom HaShoah – Day of Holocaust Remembrance
  • Memorialize Yom HaZikaron (Day of Remembrance) for all of the fallen Israeli soldiers together with the Sha'ar HaNegev community at their very special and moving ceremony
  • Celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day) with a Sha'ar HaNegev community-wide party
  • Victory bike ride/parade throughout Sha'ar HaNegev along with senior class from SDJA and Sha'ar HaNegev High School
  • Spend an incredibly meaningful and moving Shabbat in Jerusalem with SDJA and Sha'ar HaNegev seniors who will have just returned from a one week trip to Poland
  • Develop incredibly deep and strong new relationships with other San Diegans
